Dominicans vs. Wild/JQ and Cami's First Camping Trip

What do you get when you mix seven Dominican adults and nine Dominicans with too much time on their hands and a need for something adventurous in Utah? This weekend's camping trip :) Last week JQ, Omar and Arismendy decided that they wanted to try camping this weekend. I hesitantly agreed to support this idea. We planned to head out on the 3 hour/150 mile drive to Bear Mountain Lake. We were scheduled to leave at 4...well, 4 0'clock and came and went, then 5 o'clock came and went, (a lot of people call this colored people time, I call it Taveras Time) and then 6 o'clock came, we were all in the car by now but some of us had to get gas and others ice, and others had to hit up the drive through. So by about 7 pm, we began the drive. Three hours later, one stop at Walmart, and a detour between Park City and no where we arrive at the campsight with barely enough lights to find parking and then figure out how 16 Dominicans are going to set up tents :) It was too dark to take any good pictures, but we got there set up tents, had dinner, and introduced some children to the wonders of S'mores (if you ask me making s'mores should be added to the citizenship test bc it's just something too essentially American not to know, lol!
The next morning, breakfast... and building fires the only way people from the Bronx know how to.

A pint of lighter fluid, anyone?

Jos, cheesin' like always.

Danitza--too many s'mores the night before.

Dana--our expert breakfast chef

After breakfast we headed to Rendevous Beach. The beach itself was nice and pretty much like any other beach you would think of except for two details; 1--the water was polar, eeeek! and 2--the tide has risen a ton because all of the snow and rain we've had to the sand was a little muddy...JUST HOW CAMI LIKES IT!

I expected her to be scared to the beach all the things and textures, but boy was I wrong!

Let's call it exfoliating

She ate some of it...

Only JQ and Cami liked that icy water

[Insert Dominican joke here]

The lovely Rosalba and Alba Liz

Posing with Cami and her fabulous sun hat

We survived the windiest and coldest night every!

Not quite sure what she was wearing but she's having a peek a boo moment here

Wishing her dad a good morning at about 6 am!

Hiking

She was loving that baby carrier!

Back home on Sunday!

Stopped in Wyoming to make some questionable fireworks purchases for the 4th of July next weekend :)

Oh! So worn out but so worth it :)
