Fourth of July!

So I'm a few weeks late but here are some pics/videos of Cami's first 4th of July. We went to the Stadium of Fire at BYU and Cami was NOT as bad as I expected. For a child that freaks out with a blow drier or vacuum she did pretty well through the Carrie Underwood concert and like 1 hr of fireworks :-)

Took every precaution to keep her sane. Accessorizing already >

Then I turned the flash on!

And then Cami decided she was over this and fireworks are overrated and she's going to bed!

Dominicans vs. Wild/JQ and Cami's First Camping Trip

What do you get when you mix seven Dominican adults and nine Dominicans with too much time on their hands and a need for something adventurous in Utah? This weekend's camping trip :) Last week JQ, Omar and Arismendy decided that they wanted to try camping this weekend. I hesitantly agreed to support this idea. We planned to head out on the 3 hour/150 mile drive to Bear Mountain Lake. We were scheduled to leave at 4...well, 4 0'clock and came and went, then 5 o'clock came and went, (a lot of people call this colored people time, I call it Taveras Time) and then 6 o'clock came, we were all in the car by now but some of us had to get gas and others ice, and others had to hit up the drive through. So by about 7 pm, we began the drive. Three hours later, one stop at Walmart, and a detour between Park City and no where we arrive at the campsight with barely enough lights to find parking and then figure out how 16 Dominicans are going to set up tents :) It was too dark to take any good pictures, but we got there set up tents, had dinner, and introduced some children to the wonders of S'mores (if you ask me making s'mores should be added to the citizenship test bc it's just something too essentially American not to know, lol!
The next morning, breakfast... and building fires the only way people from the Bronx know how to.

A pint of lighter fluid, anyone?

Jos, cheesin' like always.

Danitza--too many s'mores the night before.

Dana--our expert breakfast chef

After breakfast we headed to Rendevous Beach. The beach itself was nice and pretty much like any other beach you would think of except for two details; 1--the water was polar, eeeek! and 2--the tide has risen a ton because all of the snow and rain we've had to the sand was a little muddy...JUST HOW CAMI LIKES IT!

I expected her to be scared to the beach all the things and textures, but boy was I wrong!

Let's call it exfoliating

She ate some of it...

Only JQ and Cami liked that icy water

The lovely Rosalba and Alba Liz

Posing with Cami and her fabulous sun hat

We survived the windiest and coldest night every!

Not quite sure what she was wearing but she's having a peek a boo moment here

Wishing her dad a good morning at about 6 am!

She was loving that baby carrier!

Back home on Sunday!

Stopped in Wyoming to make some questionable fireworks purchases for the 4th of July next weekend :)

Oh! So worn out but so worth it :)

Birthday Party Time!

We celebrated Cami's first birthday on June 5th (what felt like the hottest day ever!) and it was fuuuuun. Didn't much other than the usual, you know, cake, ice cream, pinata, candy.... But I do have to make a disclosure, right here, right now--that was way too much work--Cami is not having another birthday party until she's sixteen, and that's debatable bc I think I would rather buy her a car then plan another party. :)

Hahahah! There literally was no other way to do the pinata-stop judging us!

Happy birfday to yuuuuu!

Play NICE Cami!

My parenting skill need some tweaking because my daughter is an absolute brute! Geeez! Poor Alba Liz gets tackled by Cami everytime she sees her. Cami probably gets way too excited when she sees someone else that's her size and this must be her version of hugging and kissing (yes, Dominicans are touchy/feely people--some of you have NO idea). Anyway here's some cute videos of my daughter's craziness that I thought you guys might enjoy.

She might have a career in the WWE someday?

Cami's First Birthday

Does anyone even read this? Hahahah! Well, anyway!

My Cami-poo turned one year old yesterday and I have to say my mommy-ness turned on for some reason. Don't get me wrong, I did have the OMG feeling when I first saw her in the hospital. However, like 2 days ago, I looked at her funny little face and I was so overwhelmed with this awe of WOW, this is really my child. I felt all this love for this funny little creature :). Maybe that only makes sense to other moms. Someday, Cami, you'll read this and hopefully by then I willl be a lot better at describing how amazing you are and how much I love you <3

Cami is having an official birthday party on Saturday, but we wanted commemorate the actual day she was born so we got a (not so) small cake. Needless to say, Cami took the cake to town.

Here is a video of our awful rendition of happy birthday-hehehehe!

Here are some pictures of the aftermath!

It's Been So Long

Yep, I'm still horrible at updating this :( Cami, in case you haven't noticed, is HUGE! She is walking and has 8 teeth! She'll be a year old next week---wow! time really does fly when you're watching kids grow. Some of her favorite things nowadays are animal crackers, swings and YO! Gabba Gabba! (ok, maybe Yo! Gabba, Gabba, is one of MY favorite things--DJ Lance Rock is the man! That's all I have for now, I don't even have a super recent picture but there's more to come, promise!
